Care of the Sick

In the Parish of the Nativity of the Lord all the Clergy Team are actively involved in the pastoral care of the sick and the housebound. (Name of clergy to be advised) has specific oversight of this Ministry in conjunction with members of the Parish Pathways Group who also help with co-ordinating care of the sick and housebound.
Owing to issues around the Data Protection Act it is not incumbent upon any Residential and Nursing Care Homes to inform the local clergy of their resident’s church affiliation, spiritual or religious needs. For this to happen they need the express permission of yourself or one of your relatives. All that is required is that you or the relative phone the Priests’ House on 01737 761017 to pass on the information and that your details can be stored in the Pathways system.
When anyone informs us that either they or a relative has gone into a Residential or Nursing Care Home, one of the Clergy Team will make an initial visit and then pathways will arrange for any other on-going requirements, be it a visit from the St Vincent de Paul Society or for Holy Communion to be brought on a regular basis if someone is no longer able to get to Mass.
Within the Parish boundaries there are a large number of Residential and Nursing Care Homes. Clergy and Eucharistic Ministers visit regularly. Should you require a priest urgently, please ask the Nurse or Manager to ring the Presbytery at Redhill on 01737 761017.
