ARE YOU GOING INTO HOSPITAL?
In the Parish of the Nativity of the Lord all the Clergy Team are involved in the pastoral care of the sick and (name of clergy to be advised) has specific oversight of the East Surrey Hospital where he is a member of the Ecumenical Chaplaincy Team which has an office and chapel located as you enter the West Entrance.
Owing to issues around the Data Protection Act there is no provision made by the hospital to record patients’ Church affiliation, spiritual or religious needs. This is regrettable and makes life difficult for the Chaplaincy Team. However, we will endeavour to offer pastoral and spiritual care if you give us the details of your planned admission or if you are a relative or friend of a catholic in-patient. The easiest way to let us know that you, a relative or friend is an in-patient in the East Surrey Hospital is to phone the Presbytery at Redhill on 01737 761017. Should you be involved in an emergency admission and need a priest urgently, ask the Nurse of ward Manager to bleep the ON-CALL CATHOLIC CHAPLAIN. One of the Clergy Team is always on duty and can be called in an emergency day or night.
If we have the details of your name and ward a pastoral visit is made to all known catholic in-patients on a Friday afternoon. The Clergy Team can offer you the Sacrament of the Sick at anytime and Holy Communion is generally brought on a Sunday morning by Eucharistic Ministers coming from the 8.30am Mass at Redhill.
