Prayer Groups

In Holy Family, and across the Parish, there are a number of Prayer Groups that meet regularly.

The Iona / Taize Group meets to pray on the last Sunday of the month at 3.30 pm in the church.

Small Group meet at Holy Family on the last Tuesday morning of each month, and weekly during Advent and Lent, to reflect on the following Sunday Readings. We use the weekly leaflet Wednesday Word which is always available in the church porch and also the diocesan booklets during Advent and Lent Seasons. We welcome members of other churches.

Our Holy Family community is involved in two local Meditation Groups, enjoying Xiau meditation.  Both groups are ecumenical.  One meets monthly, the other fortnightly (except during school holidays).

We rejoice in our communal silence and stillness in prayer, starting with a short introduction.  A little music precedes and follows our quiet 20-minute meditation.  We close with a cup of coffee and fellowship.

Pope John Paul II wrote:  “We need heralds of the Gospel who are experts in humanity, who know the depths of the human heart, who can share the joys, the hopes, the agonies, the distress of people today, but who are, at the same time, contemplatives who have fallen in love with God.”

Do come and join us; we find hope encouragement and peace of mind in this regular practice of meditation together.
